Best Audio Books of 2007

| | Comments (2)

Library Journal recently announced the best audiobooks of 2007. Take a look and have a listen.

What were the best audio books you listened to in 2007? Leave your favorites in the comment section, and I'll compile them and post the list.
Here are just a couple of my choices for 2007 (I listened to these in 2007, not necessarily published in 2007):

Dead Father's Club by Matt Haig, read by Andrew Dennis, a brilliant young boy who really brought Philip Noble to life.

Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon, read by Simon Vance.

Eat, Pray, Love

Sometimes when I'm listening to a book, I can't believe I still have 6, 5, 4, more CD's left. I'm never sure if it's the story, or if it's the narrator that drags a story out. At times, I feel a story could have ended after disc 3.

But then there are times, when I can't get enough of an audio book. I'll take the long way home, so I can listen a few more minutes. I'll actually clean my kitchen slowly, so I can listen to the book longer! Or sit in my car in the driveway and continue to listen. I'm listening to a book like that right now. I am really enjoying Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert read by the author. I can feel the emotion in her voice. I can smell the pizza and pasta (I haven't finished it, I'm only on disc 3). And at times, it makes me hungry for really good Italian food, and pizza. I hope she keeps the momentum up, and at around disc 6 I'm not wishing I could speed it up.

Have you listened to a book where you drove around the block another time, or walked longer just so you didn't have to stop? If so, what and where was it? Post your stories and reviews to the comments.

Welcome Audio Book Listeners!

Welcome to Listen Up Neenah! A place where you can write about audiobooks, and read about ones you may not have heard about. This is a place for anyone who likes audio books, and wants to gush about them. I do not want this to be a place where once a week, I post the new audio books we receive, and then talk about the ones I like or didn’t like. I want to hear from you. And if enough of you listeners comment and read, there will be a contest to spice up the name of this blog. Because after all, this is your blog. I’m just here to moderate and keep it going. So comment, and I’ll post your reviews, too.

What I’m listening to: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. How about you?
