PumpkinFest
Coming Soon!
Children ages 5-10 years old are
invited to attend a free PumpkinFest program at the library on
Saturday, October 17. Children will
have a choice of attending the 11 am, or the
Children will learn how pumpkins
grow, make a pumpkin ornament; decorate a real mini pumpkin and a pumpkin shaped
cookie. There will also be a
display of several different kinds of pumpkins. The program is sponsored by the library
and the Green Thumb Garden Club.
Registration is required in advance

Each program lasts three hours. There is no cost to attend,
however registration is required.

$mart Neighborhood at FDLPL on Oct. 9
The library was awarded a $52,000
Smart Investing@Your Library grant from the Financial Industry Regulatory
Authority Investor Education Foundation and the American Library
Association. The grant will help
people near retirement become more comfortable with their finances and help
workers new to the workforce establish healthy financial habits early in their
career.
Over the last few months, library
staff have organized a permanent collection of print and audiovisual financial
materials; produced a website of online resources; and coordinated a series of
educational programs.
The public is invited to attend the
unveiling of the Money $mart Neighborhood on Friday, October 9,

Celebrates Money Smart Week, Oct. 10-17

Money Smart Week in
On Saturday, October 10 from
New this year for grades K-5 is Moolah
Matters, a questionnaire for kids to complete. Questionnaires are
available at the library. The
deadline for submitting the completed entries is September 30. All completed entries will receive a
coupon for a free ice cream cone at McDonald’s. There will also be other prizes awarded
to the ten best entries. For more
