Wisconsin’s
Most Haunted Places Featured at
Friends
of the Library Meeting, Plus a Tour of the
Haunted
Windhover
Center
for the Arts
You
will have a spooktacular time at the annual meeting of the Friends of the
Fond du
Lac Public Library on Thursday, May 1,
at 7 p.m. The program will be held in the
library’s lower level Eugene G. McLane Meeting Room at
32 Sheboygan
Street. Guest speaker, Chad Lewis,
co-author of Wisconsin Road Guide to
Haunted Places, will take you on a ghostly journey to some of the most
haunted places in Wisconsin. It covers the entire state from phantom
creatures prowling the woods to graveyard apparitions located in your own
backyard; no place in Wisconsin is without its own haunting.
Complete with photos, case history,
eyewitness accounts, ghost lore, and directions, this unique presentation
encourages you to visit these places to experience your own ghost story. You will find out where you can have
your car pushed by spirits, pick up a ghostly hitchhiker, see possessed statues
come to life, and much more.
As an added feature, after the
program the audience is invited to join local psychic, Lisa Reber, at the
Windhover Center for the Arts, located across the street from the library. The Windhover is claimed to be
haunted. Lisa will conduct a guided
tour of the facility and interpret the signs of the supernatural.
Chad Lewis is a paranormal
researcher for Unexplained Research L.L.C. and holds a Master’s of Science
Degree in Applied Psychology from UW-Stout. Lewis has trekked across the world in
search of the paranormal from tracking vampires in Transylvania to searching for the Loch Ness
monster. He has been featured on
the Discovery Channel’s “A Haunting,” and ABC’s “World’s Scariest Places.”

FDL Public Library New
Email Service Brings the Library to You!
The
Fond du
Lac Public Library recently introduced
a new email newsletter service called NextReads. People may subscribe to any of 18
different newsletters, all of which provide great reading suggestions. Newsletter topics include Mystery,
Biography, Business & Personal Finance, Armchair Traveler, Romance,
Christian Fiction, History & Current Events, and more. Most newsletters are monthly. To subscribe go to the library’s website
at www.FDLPL.org. No library card is necessary, just an
email address. Since the titles in the newsletters are linked to the library’s
catalog, you will be able to check immediately to see if the books are available
or if they are checked out. Using
your library card, you can then place holds on titles you are interested in
reading. The library will notify you when the item is available for pick
up. Even library customers without
email can take advantage of the newsletters by viewing them
online.
Another new feature on the library’s
website is a list of New Books, Books on CD, and DVDs that have recently been
added to the collection. These
titles are also linked to the catalog.
The list will be updated every 2-3 weeks.
For more information call the
Reference Department at 929-7080, Option 4; or email: reference@FDLPL.org
Library Closed
Sundays, May-September
The library will be closed Sundays in
May through September.
However, Saturday hours have been extended. The library will now be open all day
Saturday year round from 9 am to 4 pm.
Formerly the library was only open 9 am to 1 pm in the summer. The staff hopes that doing away with the
seasonal change on Saturdays will make the schedule easier for the public to
remember.
Exhibits:
Christine
Lehto Exhibits Lilly the Ladybug and her Friends

Artist, Christine Lehto, will
exhibit her work in the Langdon Divers Community Gallery at
the Fond du
Lac Public Library,
32 Sheboygan
Street, from April 30 through May 30. The exhibit will showcase 2-D and 3-D
work based on a story Lehto created about Lilly the Ladybug and her friends. The beginnings of Lilly started as a series of watercolor
paintings which eventually grew into sculptures. “In my work I try to highlight the
wonder and imagination of being a child, seeing things in a world unknown to the
real world,” stated Lehto. “In my
exhibit one can see how I’ve made veggies fly, a ladybug sit on a flower, and
created an inedible cake that people will be tempted to eat. My goal is to make people smile,” added
Lehto.
Lehto’s characters are whimsical and
young at heart. Families and
children are especially encouraged to view the exhibit. Some of Lehto’s work will be for
sale. The library receives a
percentage of all sales. Gallery
hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm; Friday, 9 am – 6
pm; and
Saturday, 9 am – 4 pm. For more information call 929-7080, ext.
141.
